Autodesk announced the release of the latest version of AutoCAD® 2014, and it continues with the AutoCAD 2013 .dwg file type and format.
AutoCAD 2014 is supported on Windows XP, Windows 7, and Windows 8 operating systems. No official support from Autodesk will be given for Windows Vista.
Below, we look at one of the new features in AutoCAD 2014 - File Tabs
File Tabs assist in file navigation and creation.
Click on a tab to access a particular already opened file, or right-click on a tab to open, save, or close a file(s). You can start a new file or open one by clicking the Plus Sign on the right of the tabs.
Hovering on a tab will give you a preview of the file's model and paper space tabs, providing quick access. The tabs can be turned on and off by clicking the File tabs button in the ribbon on the View Panel, or by typing "FileTabClose" or "FileTab" in the command line.
You can control other aspects of the FileTabs through the command line as seen in this figure:
See below for more details.

Thumbnail Previews |
|
Thumbnails of model space/layouts are displayed when you hover over a file tab. Hovering over a thumbnail will load the model space/layout into the canvas temporarily. However, this behaviour changes depending on the value of "FileTabPreview"; 0 or 1, controlled through the command line. See figure below. |

Hovering over a thumbnail displayed through the overflow menu will load the model space/layout into the canvas temporarily. See figure below. |
